Vidyaranyapura Agrahara, near Sringeri Town, is a prominent village on the banks of river Tunga in India. ==History== Twenty-five Brahmin families have lived here for tens of centuries. These families are the important pillars of Sringeri Shankaraacharya’s Mutt since the time of Adi Shankara. Now one Vaidik Brahmin named V. Rammurti Shrouti, disciple of H.H. Jagadguru, living at Shri jaydatta kuteera, Vidyaranyapura, teaches Samveda. Maha Swamiji Vidyaranya of Sringeri Maha Samathaana who established Vijaya Nagara Empire through his Disciple Krishna Deva Raya (Harihara), hails from this place and a temple of Sri Vidyaranya is built in this Agrahara.
